Our machinery park has a new addition: an AT-Boretec MT32 Rockdrill. This rig bridges the gap between our compact MT machines and high-performance drilling technology – and is exactly at home where sandstone, limestone, or weathered rock are present.
PERFORMANCE DATA THAT COUNTS IN ROCK
With 320 kN of push and pull force and 13,400 Nm of torque, the MT32 brings the reserves that are actually needed for mechanically loosened cuttings. The bentonite pump delivers up to 920 liters per minute – crucial for borehole stability and the reliable removal of cuttings, even with larger reaming diameters. The rig is powered by a 180 kW (245 HP) Deutz engine meeting the EU Stage V emission standard.
In the Rockdrill version, the MT32 covers drilling distances of up to around 400 meters. This perfectly matches the distance spectrum that defines daily operations in route construction for energy and telecommunication lines.
DOUBLE-TUBE TECHNOLOGY: ROCK WITHOUT DETOURS
The real difference lies in the drill string. The Rockdrill series operates with a double-tube system: an inner rod mechanically drives the drilling tool, while the drilling fluid is pumped through the same system. Roller cone bits and PDC tools can thus be controlled directly – without a mud motor in the drill string.
The inner rod is removable. If the next project involves loose soil, the rig can quickly be converted to standard fluid drilling operations. Two methods, one machine, no need for a second transport.
FITS INTO THE SYSTEM
Several machines from the same series are already in use by us, including the MT18, MT22, and MT60. The MT32 follows the same design and operating logic – a tangible advantage for our drilling teams, for spare parts inventory, and for our in-house specialist workshop in Nordhorn. Short training periods, short distances for maintenance and repair, less downtime on site.
WHERE THE MT32 IS USED
Cable protection pipes, gas and water pipelines, fiber optics: crossings under roads, railways, bodies of water, and built-up areas are our daily business. The MT32 expands our scope of action precisely where geology has previously dictated the level of effort.
