Pipeline Construction

Krafteam designs and delivers trenchless pipeline solutions for electricity, gas, and water networks across the DACH region. Using state-of-the-art horizontal directional drilling (HDD), we install pipelines efficiently and with minimal surface disruption – ideal for urban areas and sensitive environments.

Our Method: Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Our core technology is HDD – a trenchless method for installing pipes and cable conduits underground. Guided drilling equipment creates a precise path beneath roads, railways, rivers, or buildings, without open trenches along the route.

First, a pilot borehole is drilled. Then, the hole is enlarged to the required diameter, and the pipe is pulled into place. Only small entry and exit pits are needed, greatly reducing time, environmental impact, and surface disruption.

Benefits of Trenchless Construction

  • Minimal disruption, maximum efficiency: No open trenches, reduced road closures, faster project completion.
  • Eco-friendly: Up to 70% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional trenching.
  • Safe and precise: Controlled navigation avoids existing infrastructure, lower accident risk.
  • Cost-effective: Fewer restoration expenses, minimal traffic redirection, shorter downtimes.
  • Ideal for city centers, protected zones, and densely built-up areas.

Typical Applications

Our trenchless pipeline solutions are suitable for:

  • Power cable routes (low, medium, and high voltage)
  • Gas and water service connections
  • District heating systems
  • Crossings beneath roads, rivers, and railways
  • Development of residential and commercial zones
  • Modernization of existing utility networks

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

HDD is a guided, trenchless technology for installing pipes and conduits underground – without surface excavation along the route.

When open trenching is too disruptive, costly, or slow – e.g. in urban settings, under rivers, roads, or sensitive zones.

Not necessarily. While planning and equipment are more complex, reduced follow-up costs, shorter project times, and fewer disturbances make it highly economical.

Depending on geology and pipe size: over 1,000 meters in a single run – up to 1,500 m with Krafteam systems.
